Tara made her full England debut in 2015, in the two-game series against France, but that’s just one headline in a life packed with rugby league achievements.
She’s a qualified referee and was the first woman to officiate a game of rugby league at the national stadium, Wembley. Her no-nonsense approach means that she’s that rare thing – a popular official. And she’s been voted the best referee in Warrington at their annual awards in 2013. Her talents with ball in hand are equally impressive and she has even represented her county at rugby union. But league is her first love, and if studies, travelling and work and family commitments don’t get in the way, she might just become the first woman to referee in Super League. One to watch – and in our League of Outstanding Women.
